My experience is extensive and diverse, from business sectors to non-profits. I have 15 years’ experience in entrepreneurship, corporate build-up, leadership and management. Being active in the field of Internet from 1998, I started my experience in one of the first ISPs in Iran during my late studentship in Medical School; when the Internet was a far cry from what it is today.
In 2001, I founded my first company, Karmania Technology Inc., as the first web-based software development company in south-eastern Iran. Later, I continued as the co-founder of several technology based companies, including IranMD, a health and medical service provider, based on the Internet and communication technology and using my Medical knowledge, which was one of the first service providers in this field at its time.
Since 2003, I have focused on the Domain Name Industry as my only technical expertise, working on Persian IDNs (Patent Issued) and engaging in ICANN and Internet Governance activities, holding several advisory/observatory positions in different national and international ICANN and IG related groups, committees and initiatives, among them, the Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) of the UN-IGF Secretariat (2013-2016) and the PersianIGF (2013-2014). I also have the honor of leading the application process of 8 new top level domains (some of them very challenging and controversy) in ICANN’s New gTLD Program as a consultant and COO for Asia Green IT System.
My leadership skills has helped me engage in many non-profits. I have been a member of PIR‘s Advisory Council, the .ORG Registry (2008-2012), and Member of BoD (2009-2012) and Director of Int’l Affairs (2010-2013) of the Iranian ICT Guild Organization (IIG), the nationwide professional ICT Association covering Iranian ICT Private Sector affairs. I also have experiences in capacity building programs with iJMA3, the Union of Arab ICT Associations, as Program Coordinator and Country Director for Iran (2012-2014), initiating and leading their Women NGOs Capacity Building program, WAVE (Women Alliance for Virtual Exchange), and their co-branded Award for Iranian technology entrepreneurs, The Innovative Challenge program.
Founding and directing KBI, a Tehran-based Internet and technology service provider, empowering new innovative and knowledge-based ideas. KBI assists innovators in matching their needs to a range of technology solutions based on cost, functionality, technical architecture and support resources, by offering managerial, strategic, business intelligence consultancy, as well as service and solutions.
Deliver senior advisory recommendations to group established by Secretary General of the United Nations on programme and schedule of critical Internet Governance Forum meetings. One of 56 members from various governments, the private sector and civil society, including representatives from the academic and technical communities.
Senior leader of main project “The New gTLD Project”. Directed day to day operations of AGIT’s applications for 8 new Top Level Domains (Internet domain extensions) including .Pars, .PersianGulf, .Islam and .Halal. Worked with C-level leadership to drive improvements. Source and secure new partnerships through relationship building, networking and communications with prospective clients.
Instrumental in expansion of ICT international presence, driving participation international events and memberships in relevant organizations. Additionally served on Board of Directors, 2009–2012, catalyzing growth of ICT in Iran.
Planned and directed key projects in expansive Middle East region, focusing on initiatives to enhance use of information technology throughout developing countries. Including Women Alliance for Virtual Exchange (WAVE), PersianIGF, the Innovative Challenge Awards.
Defined and activated strategies for one of Internet’s original top-level domains. Collaborated with executive leadership spanning global noncommercial organizations. Played key role in advising on issues ranging from public policy to new services launch. Served as voice of international noncommercial community, playing role in spearheading long-term success of .ORG. Member of key working groups, including IDN Working Group, and Outreach and Awareness Working Group.
Directed all facets of self-built software development within domain, web hosting and other web services sectors in Southeast Iran. Earned ranking of 17th place in web hosting providers, providing domain services to 3,000+ customers. Executed 60+ national/provincial successful web-based software launches. Led company to active participation with i-DNS.net International (leading company working on IDNs in Singapore).

Initiator / Founder / Coordinator
Persian Internet Governance Forum (PersianIGF) Secretariat | – (1 year 1 month) Civil Rights and Social Action
Initiated and founded the Persian Internet Governance Forum;
Held the formulation session of PersianIGF at IGF2013 in Bali, Indonesia, welcomed by more than 50 attendees form arround the world;
Involved at the secretariat of PersianIGF until the formation of its MultiStakeholder Advisory Group (MAG).
Women Alliance for Virtual Exchange (WAVE) is a capacity building project aiming empowerment of women civil society organization across Middle East and North Africa.
I was responsible for attracting and managing the Iranian CSOs as members of WAVE in its formation period, organizing educational workshops, following up and evaluating their organizational management skill improvements. The project later resulted in the formation of WAVE as an independent regional organization of Women CSOs in the region.
ELECOMP 2011 – Member of the Executive Committee and Director of International Affairs
As largest Electronic, Computer & E-Commerce International Exhibition and Conference in Iran, which its 16th event have been hold on November 7-12th 2010, I tried to move it forward to be more global.
I negotiated with international groups and organization to arrange their participation in this event, including the participation of the Vice Chairman of WITSA in MENA region.
Research and analysis of Iran’s ICT sector involvement in the global ICT community
The project was established between IIG and Iranian Information Technology Organization, in order to evaluate the situation of Iranian ICT community in both private and public sector, with the international ICT-related community, including an assessment on the current situation in different aspects: legal infrastructure, awareness, communication, etc…, SWOT analysis, and developing a desirable condition.
The project was run by focusing on 3 main international organizations as different areas of ICT-related activities:
1. ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), as the multi-stakeholder running body of Internet resource management,
2. IGF (Internet Governance Forum), as the intergovernmental UN-led body for Internet Governance, and
3. WITSA (World Information and Technology Service Alliance), as an international association of IT private sector
Successfully managed the smooth transition of company’s traditional business into a complete web-based business.
